Whether your domain is registered with your hosting package, or registered elsewhere, the process of managing your domain and hosting isn’t that much different. The biggest difference, here, is having two accounts, one for your web host and one for domain.
A domain name is the web address people can use to access your website, but you also need hosting space and a way to upload and store all your website files to your web host. Then users will actually be able to see your website’s content online. At it’s most basic, purchasing hosting is basically renting web server space for your web files.
The name of your website is a domain name
Every website has a unique domain name that is used to navigate to the site. The domain name system, or DNS, is like an address book for the internet. However, the true identifier of a website is the internet protocol address, or IP address for short, of the server where your website is hosted.
